FOR EVERYONE THAT WANTED TO KNOW WHO WAS SINGING IN THE KMART MOTHER'S DAY COMMERCIAL

So I noticed that everyone has been going crazy over this KMART Mother's day commercial. Some of my friends dance to the commercial and sing along when the commercial comes on, and would say " I love this song." Although they only play a snippet of it. Well the artist is Sia an artist I have blogged about before and one of my favorite artist.  This song is not new but I guess new to people who don't know Sia. Anyway below is the actual Kmart commercial and below that is the official video (You've changed) . Enjoy and Happy Mother's Day!!

Ok A friend of mines just put me on to them like today. LOL I don't know much about this trio YET, but check out their other songs: Hey, Supernatural, and The story. This is such a dope video! enjoy.

I hate when I find out I have been deprived of good music!

Ugh this is the same thing that happened to me with Little Dragon. This is the band Portishead. They are an English musical group from Bristol. Portishead consists of Geoff Barrow, Beth Gibbons, and Adrian Utley. They have been around since 1994! and I am just learning of this band in 2011!! smh anyway they are amazing and I pretty much like anything from them check them out below this is the first song I heard from them and was hooked.

This next video is from Massive Attack another Trip Hop band that I have been deprived of. This is the first song I ever heard from them. They have a lot of hits. Makes for good painting music.

Janelle Monae "Tightrope" Feat Big Boi Official Video

Yes I love it! I love the foot work! I love videos like these simple yet loaded with meaning. If you didn't get anything from that you need to keep watching! ;)

Do you know where your music comes from?

These days almost every song includes a sample. I'm not opposed to sampling especially when the song is a hit. Here are a few songs and the original songs they were sampled from.

Jay Z: Empire State of Mind

Here is the original The Moments: Love On A Two Way Street

Another sample used for Empire State OF Mind Issac Hayes: The Breakthrough

Kanye West: Champion

Original Steely Dan: Kid Charlemagne

Kanye West: Good Life

Michael Jackson: PYT

Mya: The Man In My Life (This is kind of a cover/sample)

LL Cool J: Hey Lover

The Original Michael Jackson: Lady In My Life

I will be posting more of these...

Janelle Monae New Music - Tightrope (Feat. Bi Boi) & Cold War

Janelle Monae has released two new singles called Tightrope and Cold War from her anticipated album Metropolis Suites II & III: The Arch Android. I listened to tightrope and I honestly feel that its one of those songs I have to listen to five times then it will become my favorite song. It's a great dance track. I personally love the end of the song. The instruments sound so good with the scratching. She mixes retro and modern well.

Cold War is my favorite so far. I love the melody. When I listen to this track I instantly can relate to fighting in a Cold War. I relate it to grinding. Also as I listened to this song I couldn't help but to think of Gnarls Barkley's Song Going On. I have added the video for this song as well check it out and you decide for yourself.

Valentine's Day?.hmmm Be careful how you USE my love...

My good friend (Nameless Beats) made this beat....Be careful how you use my love...just be kind to this heart of mine.

If you missed the show don't worry this def won't be the last time you hear from Dakota Black. Refreshing Artist: Ricquo Jones

Ricquo Jones

Have you ever listened to an up incoming rapper or singer and ended up stopping the song before it finished simply because it was horrible or just plan out unoriginal and boring?? Yea me too. But every once and a while I run into a refreshing artist that has such a cool sound that I turn into a instant publicist and stylist just because I know they will make it far with their talent.
Well once again I have ran into a refreshing artist, songwriter, producer, and actor! Yes all of that! His name is Ricquo Jones and he is one part of a band called Dakota Black that also includes band member Khadeem Major. The genre is electro alternative hip hop. My favorites right now are "used to be" and "She say that I'm a dog" Check out his music here and follow him on Twitter here. Keep an eye out for the interview!

SUPER EXCITED... Corinne Bailey Rae's New Album "The Sea"

This is her sophomore album and it will be released January 26. I am so curious to see how it will sound since this is the first we have heard from her since her husband died.
This album will be in rotation right along with Sade.

The Sea Tracklist:

1. Are You Here
2. I’d Do It All Again
3. Feels Like The First Time
4. The Blackest Lily
5. Closer
6. Love’s On Its Way
7. I Would Like To Call It Beauty
8. Paris Nights/New York Mornings
9. Paper Dolls
10. Diving For Hearts
11. The Sea

Enjoy a live performance from her singing I'd Do It All Again. Might I add she looks beautiful. Love the hair grown out.
